Over the course of his nearly three-decade career in the food and beverage industry, Bill Goodman has held positions of increasing responsibility and prominence. From 1985 to 1990, Mr. Goodman helped establish Willie C’s Café and Bar in Wichita, Kansas. He developed the kitchen system, refined the initial menu, and was instrumental in developing both the restaurant’s concept and its long-term strategic plan. In 1986, Bill Goodman supervised the addition of a breakfast unit to the restaurant, and hired and trained both management and hourly staff. Before leaving the restaurant in 1990, Mr. Goodman was promoted to the position of Director of Operations and was responsible for creating a computerized inventory, overseeing unit accounts payable, and developing a food cost system.
Mr. Goodman’s early experience propelled him into management positions with nationally known franchise restaurants including Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar. He spent 12 years with J.S. Ventures, the parent company of Applebee’s, and again rose to the executive position of Director of Operations. During his tenure with the company, Bill Goodman oversaw the opening of 19 stores from start of construction through operation, supervised a staff of over 100 managers and 2,000 employees, and guided nine successful store remodels. In addition to these accomplishments, Mr. Goodman designed and managed the company’s bonus plans and set up systems for the company’s human resources functions.
Bill Goodman has continued to build upon his management expertise since leaving J.S. Ventures in 2004. He served as a Managing Partner for InPlay Omaha LLC, a 60,000 square foot indoor entertainment complex and banquet center located in Omaha, Nebraska. Currently, Mr. Goodman is the Assistant Food and Beverage Director for Ameristar Casino, where he oversees $19 million in food and beverage sales and supervises 35 managers and 300 employees spread over four restaurants and multiple food and beverage outlets. Bill Goodman serves as Chairman of Ameristar Casino’s Workplace Giving Campaign and is an active supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
